Happy Birthday, Maryellen! My Maryellen with Mini Maryellen and my mom's Maryellen (Christmas dress) posed for a few quick pics before a rain shower started.
Susie just updated her blog with an entry about both Easter and her new Mini Tenney that arrived! You can read the post here: Easter and Mini Tenney Arrived.
It's been over a year since Susie Kent last updated her blog, As Told By Susie; she wrote a brand new entry today which you can check out HERE.
Christmas Eve night and the first night of Hanukkah are upon Star Valley. Soon it will be time for all of the children to get to bed. The first candles of the menorah have been lit and tonight Santa Claus will be coming to bring presents to all of the good girls and boys.
Over at the Larsons' cabin, Mrs. Larson is wrapping up a gift for her sweet daughter, Kirsten. Meanwhile, Uncle Gard is reading The Night Before Christmas to his family. They have just written their letters to Santa Claus.
Martha Merriman, with the help of Santa, will figure out which of the children in the Merriman household will get coals in her stocking. Felicity hopes that it is not her this year.
For tonight's update, I have a new Holiday Doll Rooms Tour 2016 video for you to enjoy!
I just wanted to take a moment to tell all of you how thankful I am for your love and support of my doll collection as well as Cherished Playtime and all the other sites linked to it. I love sharing my collection through photos, videos, crafts and more and I hope that they inspire others in their doll play.
Whether you've been a fan since Cherished's beginning, ten years ago, or have stumbled upon this site more recently, thank you for being a fan! From my dolls and me to you and your dolls, we hope that you have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving!
Is your doll looking for a last-minute costume idea for Halloween? Here is a tutorial on how to make quick and easy costume ears for your doll-no sewing required!
In 2014, Martha Merriman decided to start a Bad Book for the children in her home. She had gotten the idea from the Montoya family of Pleasantville (ourdolls.weebly.com).
The Bad Book is a notebook where Martha writes down who has misbehaved and what they did. In December of each year, she counts up who was bad the most times and that child receives coal instead of candy, in her stocking at Christmastime.
I have put up all of the entries for the Merriman Household Bad Book thus far. (It can also be found on the Merriman page under My Doll Play -> Meet The Dolls -> Merriman).
I have added a new section to the site which can be found under Your Doll Play. This is a section that I have been wanting to add to the site for years now but for some reason or another I hadn't gotten around to. Nevertheless I've added it now! The new section is called Doll Play Ideas and as the title suggests, it is where you'll be able to find ideas for activities and events that you can do with your dolls.
The first activity that you can do with your dolls is to set up a Mending Basket as part of their chores. It's a perfect chore for them to do on a rainy day so that they can take an item that has started to wear out and fix it up again. "Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without." ~Boyd K. Packer.
On June 11th, I bought GOTY 2016 Lea Clark when I visited AGP-Chicago during my vacation. I renamed her Lena Baker and she is a Chicago girl who loves learning to hoop-dance.
Here is a video review that I made for Lea.
I have finally begun to reorganize and re-add old photos of the Merriman household to the website! In doing so, I have again started to think about whether or not I want to eventually move the entire website over the Weebly or whether to keep most of it on another host. There are pros and cons to both choices, and if I move the whole site over, I will have to think of how I will best do that (ie, do I move just Cherished Playtime or do I move all three of my websites so that they can all stay under the same domain name)...
While I think about this some more, I decided to try uploading the 2005-2012 Merriman photos as Weebly pages and maybe start integrating more Weebly ones into the site. Sometimes decisions like this are hard when you have such a large site as Cherished is (over 80 pages, I believe!) as if I move everything over, it will definitely take a lot of time to do so since I would have to re-upload every photo on the site, as well as everything else.
Anyway, for now, you can enjoy many old Merriman Household photos. They are grouped as 2005-2008 Photos and 2009-2012 Photos. The pages may take a few moments to load so please be patient while the pictures load and enjoy!
welcome to my doll site, Cherished Playtime! Here you will find photos, stories, videos, and more about my dolls and stuffed animals who can usually be found residing in the little doll town, Star Valley. There are also contests to enter, crafts to make, hairstyles to try on your dolls, and more! I hope you enjoy this site! Thanks for visiting!
